Written by Prof. Richard H. Beinecke in collaboration with the Mystic River Watershed Association, 2013

Back by popular demand!  Richard Beinecke enthralled us last year with his introduction to the history and recreational possibilities of the Mystic River.  This year, he is back to tell more tales and hear from our very knowledgeable audience members about their stories of the Mystic. Feel free to bring photos, clippings, stories and other information to distribute or discuss with the group, (Bring copies of printed matter if you want to give them to Rick.) He will be updating his book and website this spring and our information may make it into the final cut! For more information on Rick and his book, go to www.mysticriverrick.com.

Richard Beinecke is a professor and Chair of the Suffolk University Institute for Public Service. where he teaches courses on health and the environment, leadership, and U.S. and global health policy. He has led historic/birding canoe and kayak trips for over thirty years on area rivers (currently on the Mystic River with the Mystic River Watershed Association).  He was a Board member of the Massachusetts Audubon Society for over ten years, and was the “Green Man” leading Concord’s Earth Day festivities for many years. He is an active birder, fisherman, and cyclist. His book, “The Mystic River: A Natural and Human History and Recreation Guide” has just been published.
